Generation Capacity Expansion Considering Hydrogen Power Plants and Energy Storage Systems

The design of decarbonized power systems is one the most relevant and challenging problems that system planners are facing nowadays. In this sense, replacement natural gas turbines by H2-fired in future may constitute a solution to reduce greenhouse emissions maintaining dispatchability system. This work develops novel generation capacity expansion formulation considers possibility installing new H 2 -fired turbines, as well renewable different storage technologies. proposed model also determines investment decisions related installation electrolyzers produce , facilities. provision reserve generating units, considered determine optimal decisions. uncertainty demand growth capital costs explicitly using stochastic programming formulation. A realistic case study based on an actual isolated solved test obtained results indicate plants installed all cases which technology available. Additionally, over 2.5 times higher than units.
